Angling – The term will refer to the process of discarding any card in an attempt to induce the opponent to discard any card that is a rank away.

Blitz – When you win a game and the opponent does not score.

Block – When you hold a card that can extend melds for opponents.

Catch – Landing a hand or card

Combination – 2 cards that can turn into a meld if there is a good third card added.

Count – the point value of a player’s held deadwood cards

Deadwood – cards that will not be matched in one hand

Gin Hand – a hand that does not contain any deadwood cards.

Gut card – a card that can complete a sequence that is broken.

Knock – The end of a game that sees a player placing melds on the table. Can only happen if conditions for Knocking are met.

Oklahoma – The name of the game of Oklahoma Rummy, also known as Oklahoma Gin.

Reducer – A card that is low and is picked up in order to reduce deadwood count.

Safe Card – Any discard that the opponent will probably not be able to utilize.

Speculate – Drawing one discard card that can help in the development of a meld later in the game.

Triangle – A card group that contains 2 cards that have the same rank and a third one of the same suit as one of the two. Triangles are used to increase chances of making melds.

Undercut – To reduce the deadwood value to equal or less than the knocker has.

Undercut Bonus – A bonus that is received when you win through an undercut.

Unload – Discarding high point cards in order to reduce deadwood point value, usually done in the first hands of a game.
